Charlotte Galloway T he Shwedagon pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist site in Myanmar.

Situated on Singuttara Hill in Yangon, the country’s most populous city and former capital of an independent Myanmar from 1948 – 2005 (when the capital was moved by the military regime to Nay Pyi Taw), the Shwedagon acts as a geographical centre for Myanmar’s largest city.
