Tuesday 7 March 2023 Indian Contemporary: artisan handmade textiles Liz Williamson This presentation will look at contemporary textiles, handmade by skilled artisans who are expert at creating contemporary textiles using various textile techniques and discusses some of the issues facing artisans in terms of sustaining and safeguarding their traditions in the contemporary marketplace. Thursday 11 May 2023 Creation through Tradition: Japanese textile design and techniques Visit to Masuda Gallery in Space 145, Glebe.

11am – 12.15pm Using examples from her gallery, Masako will show how Japanese adherence to textile traditions merge with the capacity to adopt innovative ways of creating textiles that are unique, timeless and fresh.
