The four/five structure of the nawagraha or nine planets pattern is also referred to as manca-pat, known as the ancient Javanese concept and worldview of life.

Therefore it is possible to project the manca-pat principle onto the kawung textile pattern which has a similar four/five structure, and is the base of the nawagraha patola textile patterns (1979:205).
