NSW Elemental and Correspondence ongoing Art Gallery of NSW These exhibitions continue to be presented over the two floors of the Asian Lantern galleries, with works on display refreshed by new objects from time to time. Chinese Toggles: Culture in Miniature 29 April – May 2024 China Gallery, Chau Chak Wing Museum This exhibition is a rare and large-scale presentation of Chinese belt toggles – a disappeared sartorial tradition which perhaps served as forebear to the betterknown netsuke of Japan.

In addition to contextualising the belt wearing culture in China and narrating the stories of the Australian collector duo Hedda and Alastair Morrison, the exhibition highlights Chinese toggles as miniature sculptures, embodying rich symbolic and material culture and delightfully miniaturising everyday life.
