T he Indian Ocean Craft Triennial, later branded as IOTA21, began life in May 2018 with hope, aspiration, plenty of ideas, but perilously little else.
We can all now barely remember, but this was a time before COVID-19.
In the three years from original idea to final exhibitions, the world changed significantly. Whatever obstacles we as its curators thought we might meet along the way to the first Triennial – the inability to travel was not one of them...
