8 March 2022 Dyeing in Rugs and Textiles with Ross Langlands To a room full of enthusiastic members, Ross gave the first face-to-face talk since Covid struck.
He surveyed dyeing in areas including Central Asia, Afghanistan, Turkey, Sumatra, Borneo and the islands of Flores and Sumba in Indonesia where experimentation was encouraged by abundant natural resources, such as plants and insects.
Expertise developed over the centuries, so much so, that some sophisticated dyeing processes are closely guarded secrets...
