Damian Smith R eflecting on his experiences as Australia’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China from February 2007 to August 2011, Dr Geoff Raby, addressing an Australian Press Club luncheon in November 2020, was heard to remark that: ‘Diplomacy is not about how loudly you speak; it’s about results’.
Raby was alluding to issues of human rights in China and the possibility of affecting change as an outsider.
