Katrina Cashman and Siobhan Campbell O ne of the delights of working in the regional gallery sector is the opportunity to work collaboratively with members of the community who possess not only a great passion for art and culture, but also the generosity to share these passions with the broader community. Many readers of TAASA Review will be familiar with the Mosman based philanthropist Dr John Yu AC and his superb collection of Southeast Asian art compiled over the past 40 years with his late partner Dr George Soutter AM.

Mosman Art Gallery was privileged to show a selection of John’s Indonesian textiles in 2014 in the exhibition Encounters with Bali.

This exhibition drew an overwhelming interest from audiences across Australia and was subsequently developed for international tour, exhibited at Museum Tekstil, Jakarta in July 2018 to great acclaim, confirming it as one of the great collections of Indonesian textiles outside of Indonesia...
