A positive aspect to spending more time at home due to the COVID-19 lockdown has been the opportunity to listen to new music, re-play favourites and sort through piles of neglected CDs acquired over the years across Asia.

Before mentioning a few, I would remind readers of Geoff Wood’s article about his five favourite Asianheritage musicians working in Australia: Tenzin Choegyal, Riley Lee, Dya Singh, Satsuki Odamura, and Nicholas Ng (TAASA Review, Dec 2017) – all great listening. Tibetan-Australian Tenzin is an outstanding vocalist extending traditional Tibetan songs: so too is Yungchen Lhamo whose singing can be heard on the CD Gifted ­ Women of the World (Real World Records, 2000).
