Judith Snodgrass I must have walked past Daihonji many times as we lived in Kyoto for about five years (1968-73) and have returned regularly since then.
It is right in Nishijin, the traditional weaving quarter where I once studied the craft, and just a short walk from Kitano Tenmangu Shrine where the not-to-bemissed monthly flea market is held.
It is one of the oldest buildings in the city, but even that didn’t win it a place in the guide books...
