Christina Sumner I ndigo Sutra was the fifth conference organised by Sutra Textile Studies in Kolkata, an intensive, informative and altogether glorious celebration of everything to do with natural indigo and its exciting contemporary revival.

The program included an intensive two-day seminar titled Gandhi: a Tribute Through Resurgence on 9 and 10 November, two days of hands-on workshops on the 11th and 12th, two exhibitions, the Grand Bazaar (or shoppers’ blue heaven), excursions to nearby textile producing regions, outings to institutions in the city itself, an indigo auction and organised social events.
