NSW Chinese New Year pictures & propaganda posters The Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences (Powerhouse) 25 January 25 August 2017 In celebration of the Lunar New Year, Curator Min-Jung Kim is presenting a small group of Chinese New Year pictures and propaganda posters drawn from a recent acquisition of a large group of 40 Chinese posters.
These brightly coloured posters were heavily influenced by the New Year pictures (nianhua) which were the most common form of household decoration in China until the mid-20th century.
