Lost in Translation 14 August 2017 After a light meal, TAASA members heard a talk about `Chinoiserie’ designs on French and German porcelain given by Peter Burton, a Brisbane collector and the Australian events co-ordinator of the French Porcelain Society.

This was combined with a handling session of porcelain works from Chantilly, Vincennes, St Cloud, Meissen and Vienna which members brought in for the group to examine.

The group also looked at book illustrations of oriental prints from which the porcelain designs were sourced, often with comical mis-translations. TSG members closely examining the textiles.
