John Yu M any of us have used the proximity of South East Asia to widen our interest in Asian art and for those who are tempted by markets and good buys there is the very practical matter of the escalating cost of art from East Asia, especially all things Chinese. An enormous amount has been written about Chinese ceramics over the years and recent well funded excavations have resulted in much new information being published and sometimes the need to rethink established ideas.
By contrast relatively little has been written about SE Asian ceramics. The best documented have been the ceramics of Vietnam and Cambodia.
Both were extensively valued and collected by Japanese collectors in the latter part of the last century...
