Pamela Bell T his Japanese sake cup is not in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, or any of the State galleries.

It is one of about 400 pieces in the Japanese ceramics collection held by the Newcastle Art Gallery.

In this collection, Newcastle Art Gallery holds five pieces by the world famous Otagaki Rengetsu (1791-1875): delicate handmade, earthenware objects with a simple slip glaze incised with poems written by the artist.
