ORIENTing: With or Without You Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery, The University of Western Australia, Perth 4 May – 13 July 2013 The Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery at the University of Western Australia is holding two exhibitions based around the early work of the artist Ian Fairweather.

The first, ORIENTing: Ian Fairweather in Western Australian Collections, features his early paintings from the 1930s and 1940s and focuses on the influence of Asian art and culture on his practice. ORIENTing: With or Without You, curated by Aaron Seeto and Toby Chapman, responds to many of the themes such as place, identity and landscape that preoccupied Fairweather.

The exhibition includes works by contemporary artists Newell Harry, Tom Nicholson, Phaptawan Suwannakudt, Roy Wiggan, Tintin Wulia and John Young...
