Tantric or Vajrayana Buddhism was present in Sri Lanka, however a council of 1160 suppressed all but Theravadan forms of Buddhist practice there (Snelling 1990: 29).
Coomaraswarmy noted that he found no extant examples of Tantric Buddhist art in `Ceylon’ (Coomaraswarmy 1985:167)...
