TAASA NSW TAASA Iranian Arts and Crafts Seminar 30 October 2010, Powerhouse Museum, Sydney The topic for this one day seminar was designed to follow on from the topic of `Ancient Iran’, the focus of the September issue of the TAASA Review.

Dr John Tidmarsh skilfully set the scene with an overview of Iran’s early history and key archaeological sites, supported by glorious images.

Dr Stefano Carboni, Director of the Art Gallery of West Australia and previously Curator of Islamic Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, spoke on glass objects – ewers, bowls and even medallions ­ produced in the Sasanian period and pointed out the delicacy of handling and working in this fragile medium...
