My interest in Asian arts, particularly Southeast Asian ceramics, evolved as a hobby during my professional work as a researcher and lecturer in the economic geography of the region.
It was particularly stimulated when in 1981, my wife Pam and I visited the 14th-15th century kilns at Sukhothai in central Thailand.
