ARTWORK BY ARIN DWIHARTANTO SUNARYO
Arin Dwihartanto Sunaryo was born in 1978 and is an important contemporary Indonesian artist, one of only two represented in the collection of the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Sunaryo studied fine art at Bandung Institute of Technology, graduating in 2001, and earned an MFA from Central St Martin’s College of Art and Design in 2005.
He is dedicated to painting, pushing its boundaries with innovative techniques, and distilling a passion for comic books, science fiction, and Japanese manga into abstract compositions animated by dynamic gesture. In 2008, his impatience with the prolonged drying time of oil paint, led him to experiment with pigmented resin, which has become his signature material.
Sunaryo, is now having his first Sydney show at Sullivan+Strumpf. He will speak to TAASA about his work at this special function.
