Guided Visit to Manly Art Gallery and Museum
Manly Art Gallery & Museum’s (MAG&M) key collection focus is ceramics, currently comprising over 390 works which chart both historical and contemporary ceramics practice in Australia.
To make its collection accessible to the public, the ceramics gallery has recently been turned into a storeroom, with cabinets filled with as much of the collection as possible to give audiences a glimpse of what it is like ‘behind the scenes’.
For this members’ only event, Senior Curator Katherine Roberts will walk us through the collection, focusing on ceramics created by Asian ceramicists working in Australia, in particular Shiga Shigeo, Mitsuo Shoji and Hiroe Swen, and on works which reflect the influence of Asian ceramic traditions.
This event is limited to 15 TAASA members.
When: Monday, 5 August 10:30 - 11:30am. Please meet at the gallery at 10:20am.
