Study Groups
TAASA’s specialist study groups meet on a regular basis and are open to all members for in-depth study in a relaxed, social and collaborative environment. To become a TAASA Member, please visit our Membership page.
NSW Textile Study Group
Since its inception in 1994, the Textile Study Group, Sydney has provided members with a regular forum to study and appreciate all aspects of Asian textiles and adornment.
Meetings take place in a relaxed and social environment, where members enjoy presentations from either international & national experts or from within the group, as all are encouraged to research & present their own textile passions.

NSW Ceramics Study Group
The TAASA Ceramics Study Group, Sydney offers members the opportunity for serious, in depth study of ceramics from all parts of Asia. The group aims to provide a convivial meeting point for collectors, curators and anyone interested in Asian ceramics and its place in the culture of Asia, as well as in contemporary ceramics that follow Asian ceramic traditions.

Isidore van Kinsbergen: Photo Pioneer in the Dutch-East Indies
This presentation will introduce the work of Van Kinsbergen and investigate how his images shaped the visual identity of the Dutch East Indies. The Dutch colonial government engaged him as a ‘scientific photographer’ to document, amongst other things, Javanese antiquities.
