Launch of Queensland Textiles Interest Group

Members attended an informal dinner in May to launch the first Queensland Textiles Interest Group. A variety of textiles from individual collections were displayed and discussed including Chinese silks, batik and ikat, embroidery from Uzbekistan, and woven pieces from Bhutan, Laos and Japan. Jen Walker gave a short talk about the use of silks in hanging scrolls and their restoration.

Future events for both interest groups will be planned in response to members’ interest, expertise and scheduled at a variety of times and venues. Keep in touch and register your interest at: taasa.qld@gmail.com
