Made for the Local Market

A Study of Khmer, Burmese & Lao Ceramics

Please note – this event has now reached capacity. If you would like to be placed on the waitlist, please contact Margaret White at taasabookings@gmail.com.

Melanie Eastburn, newly appointed Senior Curator, Asian Art at the AGNSW, will guide us in this close examination of the Art Gallery’s holding of these charming, utilitarian objects.

The wares we will be examining include objects of daily use, as well as ceremonial vessels or ritual objects. Made solely for the local market, the Khmer products retain their highly distinctive Khmer character. We will also see examples of storage jars from Laos and the famous Burmese green-and-white ware, whose production site in Burma was only recently identified.

Numbers strictly limited on ‘first come, first in’ basis. Pre-payment is essential to confirm your place.
