TAASA VISIT TO APT9

Saturday 23 February (11am - 9:30pm) & Sunday 24 February (10am - 2:30pm)  

TAASA will again be offering its popular trip to Brisbane for the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art at QAGOMA, one of the most important and stimulating Asian art events in the calendar. This 9th APT will feature more than 80 artists and groups from over 30 countries, with a number of never-before-seen installations, paintings, sculptures, photographs and video from emerging and senior artists, together with leading works from Indigenous communities and artists. Join TAASA Queensland members in a program that will include:

·        Curator- led tours of APT9 on Saturday.

·        Dinner on Saturday night at the home of Dr James MacKean, TAASA Queensland Convenor, with Indian musical entertainment,  an illustrated talk about contemporary Tibetan painting and sake tasting in a Japanese tatami room.

·        A seminar on Sunday morning (at QAGOMA) on the Decorative Arts of India, including textiles, ivories, bronzes and paintings, organised by the TAASA Queensland committee.

·        A guided tour early Sunday afternoon of A Fleeting Bloom: Japanese Art from the QAGOMA Collection including recent accessions from the James Fairfax gift of Japanese scrolls and screens.

 

COST

The total cost of $140 for this trip includes:

- Drinks, dinner and musicians at Dr James MacKean's home on Saturday.

- Lunch at GOMA Bistro on Saturday and Sunday.

Flights and accommodation are by private arrangement.
